Undo a Split Order Line in Cetec ERP

May 14 2023

Order splitting is a common workflow when you need to partially ship a line, preserve lot or batch traceability, or keep job costing aligned to what actually moved.

But if a line was split by mistake, you may need to put the order back into a single line before more work attaches to it. Cetec ERP supports this through the De-split action, with a few conditions that can block it.

Where to Find De-split on a Work Order

From the work order screen, open the Maint/Etc section in the left-hand navigation. Select Split Line.

If the line has been split, you will see a De-split button in the upper left area of the Split Line screen. Clicking De-split attempts to undo the split and return the order line to its original state.

Common Reasons De-split Is Blocked

De-splitting is intended for cases where the split can be safely reversed. If additional activity has been recorded against the split lines, Cetec ERP may block the action so you do not lose traceability or disconnect related records.

De-split may be blocked when any of the following are true.

  • Serials are picked on the line.
  • There is data in any of these: "work", "ncrs", "po_line", "commission_breakdowns", "order_cuts", "allocation_rows", "kit_audits", "order_notifications", "linked_outsource_pquote_lines", "linked_outsource_po_lines", "pick_queue", "inspections", "rma_header", "precontrol_contacts", "part_requests", "eco_order", "order_instruction_lock", "quote_line_tag_maps", "ship_and_debits".
  • There is an exception to the previous for intercompany PO lines.
  • The line is deleted.
  • The user does not have "Manager" or "Order Split" roles.
  • There are picked parts on the line.

If any blocking condition is present, you will not be able to de-split until the attached data is cleared from the line.

Key Takeaways

  • Use De-split when a line split was created by mistake and you need to return to a single order line.
  • Find the action from the work order screen under Maint/Etc, then Split Line.
  • De-split can be blocked if picks, serials, inspections, or other related activity is already attached to the line.
  • If de-splitting is blocked, clear the attached data first, then try again.

Conclusion

Splitting lines is useful for partial shipments and traceability, but the workflow needs a clean way to recover from a mistake. De-split provides that recovery path when the split lines have not accumulated downstream activity, so your order can return to a single line without breaking related records.
