Handling Individual Part Requests in Cetec ERP

Issuing raw material from stock to production usually happens as part of a kit. A production manager or warehouse team picks multiple components for a work order, and that material moves together through the build.

The problem is what happens after the kit hits the floor. Scrap, breakage, engineering tweaks, or R&D pull requests can create a need for one more item, outside the original pick. If you handle that informally, inventory goes out of sync and it becomes harder to trust what is actually available.

When to Use an Individual Part Request

Use an individual part request when production needs additional parts or raw material beyond what was originally brought to the job. This keeps the request visible to the warehouse, and it keeps inventory updated as parts are picked.

If you are building full kits for a BOM-driven work order, the pick queue is still the right tool. Individual part requests are for the exceptions: one-off pulls, small adds, and corrections that still need to be accounted for.

Create a Part Request Without an Order

Step 1: Under the Production tab, go to Part, then Part Requests.

Step 2: Click Create New Part Request (Without Order). This opens a new request form.

Step 3: Fill out the request with the part and quantity needed. If you see a notice about a missing default user, go to your Configure settings and set a default user. Cetec ERP uses that default user to route the pick request.

Close a Request That Was Made in Error

If the request was a mistake, or production no longer needs the material, close the part request without recording any picks. On the part request screen, change the status at the bottom to close and click update.

Key Takeaways

  • Use kits and the pick queue for standard BOM picks tied to a work order.
  • Use individual part requests when production needs extra material beyond the original kit.
  • Set a default user in Configure settings so pick requests route correctly.
  • Close mistaken requests without recording picks to avoid unintended inventory movement.

Conclusion

Whether you are building full kits or requesting a single part for an exception on the floor, the goal is the same: keep stock movements accountable. Using individual part requests in Cetec ERP gives production a clear way to request material while keeping inventory counts reliable for the next job.
