Configure Part Request Email Notifications in Cetec ERP

Feb 21 2023

When production needs material and the warehouse does not see the request quickly, jobs can stall, expediting increases, and picks become reactive. Part request email notifications in Cetec ERP help your team respond as soon as a request is submitted.

This setup is controlled through a small set of admin configuration settings: assign a default warehouse picker, turn on the email trigger, and optionally CC other recipients who need visibility.

Prerequisites for Part Request Alerts

You will need admin access to update configuration settings. The workflow depends on a default warehouse picker user, since that is the user assigned to new part requests by default.

Set a Default Warehouse Picker

Confirm you have a default user that part requests are auto-assigned to. Set the config setting default_wh_picker_id to the ID number of that user. You can find the user ID under Admin > Users.

Enable the Assigned User Email

Search for the config setting Part Req - Email Assigned User When Created and set it to 1. When this is enabled, Cetec ERP sends an email to the default warehouse picker when a part request is submitted.

Add CC Recipients for Visibility

If additional users need to see part request activity, use the config setting Part Req CC List. Add the email addresses you want copied on the notification in the value field.

Key Takeaways

  • Set default_wh_picker_id so new part requests are assigned to a known warehouse picker.
  • Enable Part Req - Email Assigned User When Created (set to 1) to send the notification email on submission.
  • Use Part Req CC List to include additional recipients who need visibility into part requests.
  • Email alerts help the warehouse respond faster and reduce delays for production jobs waiting on material.

Conclusion

Part request notifications are a small configuration change that can prevent missed requests and reduce downtime on the floor. Once the default picker and email settings are in place, your team gets the request in real time and can move material to the job with less back-and-forth.
