Using Kiosk Mode in Cetec ERP 4.0 for Barcode Time Tracking

Nov 1 2021

On the shop floor, labor tracking often breaks down when operators share stations, shift between tasks, or do not have a convenient way to log in and out of a system. That leads to missed time, unclear accountability, and job costs that do not reflect what actually happened in production.

Kiosk Mode in Cetec ERP 4.0 addresses this by letting multiple employees start and stop work using barcode scans at a single kiosk or workstation. Each scan ties labor time to the correct user and operation without requiring a full login for every person.

Enable Kiosk Mode and Issue Barcoded Badges

To set up Kiosk Mode, go to your user list in Cetec ERP, select an employee, and open the edit screen. Enable the Kiosk Mode setting for that user, then print a barcoded badge that employee will scan at the kiosk. Repeat this for each employee who will use the shared workstation.

Start and Stop Work from the Home Page

Once badges are printed, an employee can begin work from the Cetec ERP home page. The employee scans their personal badge barcode, then scans the work location operation barcode printed on the work order traveler. That scan starts work for the correct operation under the correct user.

To stop work, scan the same work location operation barcode again. Because the workflow is barcode-driven, each employee can use the same kiosk throughout the day without logging into and out of individual user sessions.

Confirm Who Started Work on an Operation

Kiosk Mode ties time entry to the scanned badge, so Cetec ERP can attribute labor to the correct person. On the work order screen, you can review which user has started work on a specific task, which supports job costing and basic accountability when multiple employees share the same workstation.

Key Takeaways

  • Kiosk Mode lets multiple employees log labor from a single shared workstation.
  • Each employee scans a barcoded badge, then scans the operation barcode on the work order traveler to start work.
  • Scanning the operation barcode again stops work for that operation.
  • Work orders show which user started work on a task, supporting job costing and basic accountability.

Conclusion

Kiosk Mode is a practical way to capture labor time by user without dedicating a computer and login session to every person on the floor. If you run shared workstations and rely on barcoded travelers, it gives your team a consistent method to start and stop work while keeping the work order record tied to the right employee.
