Monitor Job Start Dates in Cetec ERP Scheduling

When jobs start late, the production schedule quickly loses credibility. Planners may schedule work to start on a specific day, but unless you can compare planned work start dates against actual releases to the floor, it is hard to know how often jobs are really starting on time.

A Cetec ERP cloud user asked how to see whether orders are starting production on their scheduled work start dates and how to measure late starts across a week or month. Cetec ERP supports this by combining the Production Orders List, work start dates, work locations, and work order history.

Use the Orders List to Review Scheduled Jobs

In Cetec ERP, go to Production, then Orders, then List to see a full list of scheduled jobs in your system. This report is the starting point for understanding which work orders are planned to start in a given period and whether they have actually been released to production.

Watch Work Start Date, Work Loc, and WIP Comment

From the Orders List, use the +/- Columns control to include Work Start Date, Work Loc, and WIP Comment. Then apply a date filter that matches the week or month you want to review. This gives you a list of all work orders scheduled to start in that period along with their current status on the shop floor.

Work Loc shows whether a job has been released to production. If the Work Loc is still set to "Scheduled - Not Yet Released To Floor," the job has not been released. If the Work Loc shows any other production location, the work order has moved out of schedule status and into active work on the floor for that date range.

The WIP Comment field is automatically updated with the most recent activity on the order, including the latest location change and the user who performed it. This gives planners and supervisors a quick read on what happened most recently without opening each work order individually.

Find the Actual Production Release Date

To see the exact date a job was released to production, open the work order and review the History detail. Cetec ERP records each move as a location change along with a timestamp. The change from the scheduled location to a production location shows when the job actually started on the floor.

By comparing the logged release date in the history to the Work Start Date column on the Orders List, your team can quickly see which jobs started on their scheduled date and which started late. Over time, this gives you a practical measure of how closely execution follows the plan.

Key Takeaways

  • Use Production > Orders > List to see all jobs scheduled to start in a given period.
  • Add Work Start Date, Work Loc, and WIP Comment to the Orders List to monitor schedule status from one screen.
  • Interpret Work Loc values to see whether a job is still scheduled or has been released to the floor.
  • Use work order History to find the actual release date and compare it to the planned start date.
  • Track these metrics over time to understand how reliably jobs start on time in Cetec ERP.

Conclusion

Monitoring whether jobs start on time is a practical way to judge how well your production schedule matches real activity on the floor. With the Orders List, key columns like Work Start Date and Work Loc, and the detailed work order history in Cetec ERP, your team can see where jobs are starting late and take targeted action to improve scheduling performance.
