To create a BOM from a quote:

  • Add the BOM part to a quote line
    • Go to SALES » Quotes » New Quote/Order to create a new quote.
    • Click the Add Line button to add a new line.
    • Enter the name of the BOM part/item into the Prcpart field, along with Qty. Be sure to assign Build as the transaction code for the quote line. Click OK to add the line.
    • Hover your mouse to the far right of the quote line. Click on the worksheet icon to access the BOM.
  • Define raw materials / components needed to build the BOM
    • Three buttons toward the top of the BOM Quote Worksheet will let you manually add components, or import BOM from spreadsheet, or copy BOM from an existing BOM record.
    • The raw materials / components of your BOM represents the material you will pull from stock to process or assemble into the finished good.
    • Key field: Prcpart. This is the Prcpart record for the raw material or component involved in the BOM record.
    • Key field: Qty Per Top. This is the amount of material/components needed to build one unit of the top level BOM.
  • Commit the BOM
    • Your BOM (or changes to the BOM) may be committed to its permanent BOM record. Just click the Commit BOM button toward the top.
    • Note: new BOMs (or changes to a BOM) will be committed to the permanent BOM record automatically if and when the Quote is converted to an Order.

To create a BOM from a part record:

  • Create a part record
    • Go to PARTS » Views/Lists » List and click the Create New button on the far right of the screen. Choose a PRC and part number and click Create.
    • Click the Pencil icon at the top left to edit. Scroll down in the edit window and click the Create As BOM button.
  • Define raw materials / components needed to build the BOM
    • The raw materials / components of your BOM represents the material you will pull from stock to process or assemble into the finished good.
    • Key field: Prcpart. This is the Prcpart record for the raw material or component involved in the BOM record.
    • Key field: Qty Per Top. This is the amount of material/components needed to build one unit of the top level BOM.
