Standard Waterfall vs. Allocation Waterfall
A customer wrote in wanting to know the difference between the two different types of part waterfalls in Cetec ERP: the standard waterfall and the allocation waterfall.
The standard waterfall is up-to-the-minute. When you open or refresh the page on the standard waterfall, you will see the latest supply and demand data reflected there.
The allocation waterfall is not up-to-the-minute but is instead using the data from the most recent allocation refresh performed by the system. (By default, this data is also what is used when you run a refresh of MRP.)
As shown here, you can check the top of the screen to see the age of the data being used.
A couple more differences to note between these two versions of the waterfall:
- The allocation waterfall includes bin information.
- The allocation waterfall shows changes to the projected quantity on hand one order or PO at a time, rather than one day at a time. In other words, the allocation waterfall is more detailed but also less up-to-the-minute.
Cetec ERP lets you view your inventory data from a variety of angles to empower informed purchasing and production decisions.
