• In a quote, when you edit a line, you’ll notice a field called “Trans Code.”
  • “Trans Code” is short for “Transaction Code” and indicates the type of transaction you are dealing with on this line.
  • In the drop-down menu for “Trans Code,” you have three options: Stock, Build and Charge.
  • Stock orders are pulled and shipped from inventory without assembly. Stock orders will automatically adjust the inventory quantity.
  • When selecting “Build,” there are two kinds of standard work orders.
      1. Some work orders are assembled to be shipped right away.
      1. Other work orders are assembled and put into stock to be sold or used at a later time.
    • Note: Build-for-stock work orders are charged against an intercompany customer to accurately track and reconcile inventory cost.
  • For a Build-for-stock order, you’ll need to set up an intercompany “customer.”
  • To create an intercompany customer, navigate to Sales > Customers > Customer List > Create New.
  • Create a name for your intercompany customer, something like “Internal Customer,” then click Create.
  • On the Edit screen, set the Customer as “Inter-Company Account: Yes”.
  • Charge orders are orders with no inventory ramifications.
