1) Return (Receive & Credit): The product is returned, and the customers account is credited. Depending on the condition, the product may either be reworked into stock or scrapped.
- In every RMA, you will receive the returned part with a PO created from the RMA screen. Once you have received and inspected the part, best practice is to move that part into its own bin named after the RMA.
- In the Return and Credit Scenario, you will then simply issue the credit memo from the RMA Screen.
- After that, the Credit Memo will be linked. You can rework or scrap the piece that you received from the customer, but you have resolved the RMA by issuing this credit memo to the customer.
- Note that editing the RMA is blocked now. To go back and edit the RMA, you will need to walk back the steps you took to lock it (in this instance, you can edit the RMA after closing the credit memo by dropping the open lines and clicking update)
2) Refunds (Credit Without Receipt): In this case, the customer is issued a credit without returning the product, often used when the cost of return outweighs the value of the product.
- For this RMA, you wont need to create a PO for the customer return. Inside of the RMA, you will select the part in question and Issue Credit. This will create the refund for the customer and close the RMA.
