Cetec ERP provides a robust BOM (bill of materials) Comparison Screen that supports engineers teams in managing product revisions throughout a project’s lifecycle, and perpetuating those changes to other departments like purchasing and production. This tool is essential for project-based ETO (Engineer-to-Order) or OEM manufacturing, allowing users to compare different BOM revisions, manage changes, and ensure accuracy in procurement and production.
Purpose of the BOM Comparison Screen
The BOM Comparison Screen is designed to:
- Compare different revisions of the BOM to track changes.
- Facilitate smooth transitions between BOM versions.
- Help purchasing teams manage inventory and orders effectively.
Steps to Use the BOM Comparison Screen:
- Navigate to the BOM that you will be revising.
- Go to Revisions
- Select Edit BOM on the revision you need to compare.
- On the left-hand menu of the revision, select Compare BOM.
- From here you can select any of the BOMs revisions and compare them.
- You can also choose to look at an order specific (also known as a temp BOM) and compare to BOM revisions. You can make changes to the tempbom from the BOM compare screen.
- You can also choose to start a new revision or clone a revision.
- The screen will highlight differences between the old and new BOMs, showing additions, deletions, and modifications.
- Scroll left to right on each BOM to review any changes in components, quantities, or costs.
- Make on-the-fly changes to the BOM on the right side if needed. Such as deleting or swapping components and adding new components.
- Import components or structures from the previous revision into the new revision.
- Push updates from the BOM Comparison Screen via an ECO. This can be done directly from the comparison screen to update the order line revision.
- If changes need to be reflected in the older BOM revision, use the ‘Rev Roll’ feature to push new changes to the previous revision. Rev Roll will redirect you to the revision screen so that you can set the current revision.
