How To Setup Statement of Cash Flows Financial Reporting
The Statement of Cash Flows can be found via ACCOUNTING » Reports » Statement of Cash Flows. By default, this report generates your Cash Flow based on preconfigured accounts. You may adjust these accounts or create your own custom accounts when creating your own Statement of Cash Flows.
To find a list of all available accounts, go to ACCOUNTING » Chart/Ledger » Account List. On this page there are (4) options.
1) Pressing either the Account # or Account Name of a specific account will bring you to that account’s details page where you can edit the account’s details.
2) Pressing either the Balance or the Total Balance will bring you to that account’s ledgers where you can see what entries have been posted to that account and make any entry changes as necessary.
3) The Search bar above the Accounts List allows you to search on a specific Account Name, Account #, and/or find the delta between Date A and Date B. To do this, enter the desired search criteria and click Submit.
4) Finally, the Create Account button at the top left will allow you to specify a new Ledger Account under a specific Parent, and with both a New Account Name and New Account Number (using unique Account Names and Account Numbers is recommended). Once you are ready, hit Create and your new account will be created! Click the new account to begin customizing it.
On the Edit Ledger Account page, you will find several details that can be customized for a specific Ledger Account. Name, Account #, and Parent Account correlate with the Account Name, Account Number, and Account Parent that you set previously during the Create. Description, Bank Account Ref, and Routing # allow you to better explain what the account is and whether or not there is a specific bank account and routing # that are tied to the account. Statement of Cash Flow Activity Type determines whether entries to the specific ledger account will post to Cash Account, Operating, Investing, or Financing. The Statement of Cash Flow Multiplier can either be 1 (regular account) or -1 (contra account). Order Preference allows you to set how certain accounts are displayed in the Statement of Cash Flows.
