Kiosk Mode is a streamlined interface designed for shared workstations on the shop floor. It allows multiple employees to log labor against work orders quickly using a single terminal, minimizing administrative overhead and maximizing data accuracy.
Configuring the Kiosk User Profile
Before deploying the hardware, you must designate a specific "Kiosk User" in the system.1. Navigate to Admin: Go to Admin > Users > User List.
2. Select or Create Profile: Click Edit next to an existing user or create a new profile specifically for the kiosk (e.g., "ShopFloor_Kiosk").
Note: Do not share this profile with office staff. If the same user logs in on a different computer, the kiosk will be logged out.
3. Assign Roles: Grant the user roles appropriate for your floor. Production Only is acceptable, but you can add more permissions if you wish.
4. Scanner Settings: Locate the Has Barcode Scanner field and set it to Has Scanner or AutoDetect.
5. Ensure the Kiosk Mode Enabled? checkbox is checked.
6. Save Changes: Update the profile to lock in these settings.
You’ll need both User Barcodes and Workorder Travellers. Here’s how to get these.Printing User Barcodes
1. Return to the User List (Admin > Users > User List).
2. Locate the employees who will be utilizing the Kiosk.
3. Click the Barcode button on the far right of their user row to print their unique ID barcode.
Printing Workorder Travelers
To log time, users need a barcode for the specific job.
1. Individual Method: Navigate to the specific Workorder > Documents Tab. Select Work List and print the page.
2. Batch Method (Production Manager): Go to Warehouse > Release to Production > Release Sales/Build Orders. Use this screen to batch print Line Plates for all jobs being released to the floor.
Hardware Setup
1. Station Setup: Log into the designated Kiosk User profile on the shop floor tablet or computer.
2. Scanner Configuration: Ensure your hardware barcode scanner is programmed with a Carriage Return (Enter key) suffix. This allows the system to process the scan immediately without the user needing to click a button.
Recording Labor (The Workflow)
Once the Kiosk is live, the process for shop floor employees is a simple two-scan workflow.
To Begin Work:
1. Optional: Scan Traveler Barcode to navigate to the job.
2. Scan User Barcode: Identifies who is performing the work.
3. Scan the operations barcode on the work list to start work.
- The system will automatically create an Active Work entry for that user. You can also scan the user barcode and then the operation from somewhere else in the system. The system will take you to the correct work order and start work.
To End Work:
1. Scan the same operation barcode again. If the user isn't the active user scan the user barcode again first to make them the active user then scan the operation barcode.- The system recognizes the active task and automatically ends the labor entry.
